Course Description: PER-294 is a DHS/FEMA-certified, 8-hour, tuition-free, performance level course designed with a proactive approach to testing the Emergency Operations Plans (EOPs) of rural communities in an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) environment. EOPs are all-hazard plans developed for use by state and local jurisdictions to ensure a coordinated and effective response to natural, technological, or human-made disasters that may occur within an area. It serves as the “game plan” for those who will be tasked with responding to an incident. Testing these plans on a routine basis is critical to their effectiveness.
Topics include (but not limited to):

Articulate the value of exercising and EOP.

Describe the Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP).

Prepare an EOC for testing.

Given a particular scenario, select an exercise type that best meets a jurisdiction’s requirements.

Develop an exercise aligned with the HSEEP standards.

Simulate role of an assigned EOC position.
Recommended Participants: Law Enforcement; Fire Service; Healthcare; Emergency Management Personnel; Community Mental Health Personnel; and Community Stakeholders
